“Un sistema económico cruel al cual pronto habrá que cortar el cuello.” Así se refería Federico García Lorca al capitalismo en una conferencia recital que hizo el 1930 a la Residencia de Señoritas de Madrid. Allá presentó su libro Poeta en Nueva York y explicó sus “impresiones líricas” después de un año de vida en la ciudad, donde fue testigo del crac del 29, la crisis global más grande de la sociedad capitalista, previa a la que estalló el 2008 y en que todavía hoy continuamos atrapados.
El espectáculo que presentan Alberto San Juan y la Banda reproduce el texto (prosa y poesía) que Lorca pronunció en aquel encuentro con el público de hace casi un siglo y que mantiene una luz plenamente actual.
